By the mercy of God and through the prayers of our Holy Patron Saint John, we were deemed worthy to celebrate the feast day of his blessed repose. A great number of pilgrims gathered, numbering 350–400, to honor Saint John’s memory.
At the end of the Vigil, our Abbot, Metropolitan Demetrius, expressed his thanksgiving to God that a notable number of pilgrims had persevered in prayer until the service was completed at around 12:30 AM.
On the day of feast fifteen visiting clergy and hundreds of pilgrims celebrated the Divine Liturgy, followed by a festive procession around the monastery grounds, during which the construction site of the new monastic cloister was consecrated with Holy Water which had been blessed at the end of the Vigil. A festive trapeza followed.
Many pilgrims commented that they had received the answers and consolation which they sought from Saint John during his feast day.
Glory be to God for all things!
